Upcoming Road Closures

 

Bedford Road, A1 northbound and A421 eastbound

What is happening?

 

We are writing to inform you about upcoming road closures and diversion routes around the Black Cat junction. These closures will take place from Friday 17 July to Tuesday 28 July 2026.

 

We’ll be carrying out a series of essential works at the Black Cat roundabout to support progress on the new junction and surrounding structures. To ensure the safety of road users and our workforce, planned road closures will be in place. While these temporary measures may cause some inconvenience, they will allow us to complete important activity efficiently and safely.

 

Our teams will be progressing several key pieces of work, including:

 

  • installation of the central reserve at the Black Cat junction
  • surfacing of footways

 

These improvements are vital to support the long-term upgrades planned for the junction, helping to improve safety, reduce congestion, and create smoother journeys for all road users. Full details of the closure dates, times and exact locations can be found on the following pages.

 

Update: Cancellation of planned A428 weekend closure

 

We’re writing to let you know that the planned weekend closure of the A428 between Tithe Farm, St Neots    and Caxton Gibbet, previously scheduled from Friday 24 July to Monday 27 July 2026, will no longer go ahead at that time.

 

This closure has been cancelled and will be rearranged for a later date.

 

We will provide further details of the revised closure dates in due course once these have been confirmed.
